Robust broadband periodic excitation design

چکیده
This paper considers a rather practical problem arising when inexperienced users misuse the (otherwise well designed) periodic broadband excitation signals during the measurement or signal processing phase of an identification process. Using a fractional period of the excitation signal instead of full periods may affect not only the precision because of the well known leakage effect, but may cause a serious loss of information on the measured system as well. The power of the excitation signal in certain frequency bands may be much lower (30-40 dB) than it would be expected, and thus the measurement in a noisy environment may give poor result. A solution is presented here to make periodic broadband (multisine) excitation signals more robust against such misuse. The suggested solution is analyzed, and the theoretical results are verified by practical examples.

Post-critical Behavior of Three- dimensional Composite Beams Near the Autoparametric Resonance under Flapwise Excitation
The bifurcation analysis of a composite beam subjected to harmonic flapwise base excitation is studied when the ratio of flapwise and chordwise internal resonances is 1:2. Results are obtained by the numerical solution of modulation equations. Chracteristics of the response are investigated in terms of time history, phase portraits diagrams and bifurcation diagram of poincare maps. It is observ...
متن کاملA Suitable Coding Scheme for Broadband Power-line Communication
This paper introduces three coding strategies for using the Luby Transform (LT) code in a relay aided power-line communication scheme. In the first method, the relay decodes the received packets and re-encodes them for transmission towards the destination. In the second method, the relay only forwardes a random linear combination of its received packets towards the destination, while in the thi...
متن کاملOn the stochastic excitation of monostable and bistable electroelastic power generators: Relative advantages and tradeoffs in a physical system
Numerical and experimental investigations of broadband random vibrational energy harvesting using monostable and bistable piezoelectric cantilevers are presented along with relative performance comparisons. Simulations and experiments reveal that a linear-monostable energy harvester can outperform its bistable counterpart for very low and relatively high random excitation levels. The bistable c...
متن کاملExploring the limits of broadband excitation and inversion pulses.
The design of broadband excitation and inversion pulses with compensation of B(1)-field inhomogeneity is a long standing goal in high resolution NMR spectroscopy. Most optimization procedures used so far have been restricted to particular pulse families to keep the scale of the problem within manageable limits. This restriction is unnecessary using efficient numerical algorithms based on optima...
متن کاملOmnidirectional and broadband absorption enhancement from trapezoidal Mie resonators in semiconductor metasurfaces
Light trapping in planar ultrathin-film solar cells is limited due to a small number of optical modes available in the thin-film slab. A nanostructured thin-film design could surpass this limit by providing broadband increase in the local density of states in a subwavelength volume and maintaining efficient coupling of light. Here we report a broadband metasurface design, enabling efficient and...
